Lies and manipulations?

Mm, I mean, sure, the government will spin things to make it look good for themselves, but from the point of view of the Army, all they knew was Lynch was being held in an Iraqi hospital, after her squad was ambushed, with 11 people killed and 6 people captured. Ok, yeah, it's awesome the Iraqi's treated her well, and it sucks to be the doctor being held at gunpoint while they were extracting her, but it makes sense in light of the operation.

Sure, but it doesn't have to be a conspiracy to be a problem. For me it boils down to an irresponsible media with no real commitment to good journalism.

That's not true, and you're missing the point.

The point is that all of the things that the Pentagon claimed were lies meant to bolster their pro-war image with the American public, which reflected positively on the Bush administration.

"... according to the BBC, the Pentagon knew it was needless. The BBC says U.S. forces had been tipped off by Nasiriyah resident Hassan Hamoud Awad that no Iraqi soldiers were in the hospital."

^You need to brush up on your modern history.

U.S. commanders had every right to believe that there would be troops everywhere in An-Nasiriyah.

It is by far one of the bloodiest battles we have fought in the entire campaign.

You need to brush up on your reality, MGR.

The invastion force was told that there were no Iraqi troops at the hospital. Both Time and the BBC have confirmed that.

The Pentagon and the Bush administration turned Lynch's "rescue" into a PR stunt and I'm really pissed off that someone who is apparantly as smart as you would defend that.

"Releasing its five-minute film to the networks, the Pentagon claimed that Lynch had stab and bullet wounds, and that she had been slapped about on her hospital bed and interrogated."

The Guardian

Remember that part, MGR? Or did you never even bother to find out?

I'm not defending the scum of the Bush administration.

I'm defending the actions of the soldiers in An-Nasiriyah.

Just because a local told them there would be no forces does not mean it's true. Any insurgents or enemy soldiers could have easily coerced the man into saying that. Did they need to kick doors down? Probably not. The Army has always (in recent history) been poorly trained.

The point isn't that there may have been Iraqi soldiers there. The point is that they weren't there yet the US army went around acting like they were anyway, even claiming that they were under fire in early reports.

The point is that the invasion force was tipped off, then decided to storm the hospital and turn the entire thing into a propaganda loop.

I didn't post this to bash the military as much as I posted it to remind people that the Bush administration, and its toadies in the Pentagon, will stoop to any low to create an image in the public mind of a reality that does not exist.

Know what? I'm from the midwest, and I can speak from experience when I say that we're not all redneck jesusville idiots out here. For example, my father was born in Oklahoma, raised in Mississippi and then moved to Kansas. He has never supported the Bush presidency, he vocally recognizes that war in Iraq is immoral and illegal, and he is one of the smartest people I have ever known. I'm tired of being automatically associated with the bigoted, blind minority of the population in this region, just because I live here.

In a normal distribution model outliers are expected for large sample sizes. Learn some statistics. Maybe then you'll realize how badly you need to get out of the Midwest (more like Meanwest - as in "West side of the Mean" - if you ask me). Or maybe you'll realize how much money you can make by exploiting everyone else around you! Oh, sweet America!

Here's an example of a description I would attach to this video (I suggest it be placed):

Lynch served in Iraq during the 2003 invasion by U.S. and allied forces. She was injured and captured by Iraqi forces, but was recovered by U.S. special operations forces, with the incident subsequently receiving considerable news coverage...Lynch, along with major media outlets, has since accused the U.S. government of fabricating this story as part of the Pentagon's propaganda effort to manipulate the American and global public opinion into accepting and sympathizing with the invasion of Iraq.

Would you include a blurb about how the Pentagon changed the story as the truth was revealed? That the troops weren't under fire. That Jessie wasn't abused and did not suffer a gunshot wound. That a doctor did not slap her in the face, etc.

What do you do when you have a doctor who gives you an irresponsible diagnosis and has no commitment to good medical practice?

If you don't like a business, boycott it. You have alternatives.

No, I don't think so.

She took some nude photos at some point in her life and after she exposed the Pentagon and the Bush administration for the bunch of liars that they are, somebody was going to give the pics to the "liberal media."

Larry Flynt purchased the pics for $750,000 and returned them to Ms. Lynch.

That isn't news. That is propagandist lies. Completely illegal according to the law of the land and against the Constitution.

Same old sh$%t from the government. Yet these morons keep falling for the same old red-white-blue wave the flag yeehaw gung-ho stories and supporting these scam artist power mongers.

God bless the USA. God bless the police state.. for he recognizes national borders, takes preference over certain nationalities, and by golly gee... thinks the US's poop don't stink one iota.

May his noodley appendage send blessed magic sparks all over us, giving us +1 to hit/damage and +1 to AC for 1 turn.

It IS the fault of the people of the United States for not seeing the dark and the light as one....for not seeing what the dark, manipulated by a few assholes, can reveal-diminish the power the assholes have, by demanding more from them, perhaps.....more to come no doubt, and stepped-up a bit as well, as the exposure becomes more...vigorous-Don't expect a smooth transition-
