Real Government Safety Video. No Seriously, It Is.

This is a real video from the Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico. This video is required for all personnel to watch (including the nuclear scientists). Here's your TAX DOLLARS AT WORK!!

Excellent sift Aemaeth.
You can never be too safe, right?
I would like to say I would love to see a parody....but this almost looks like a parody itself.

Reminds me of a Microsoft Vista sales hype video from a while back.

Little known fact: The government of New Mexico spent a record $30M in 2004 in response to what the Safety Inspector General called an 'alarming' rate of stair-related mishaps.

The translation of these funds into catchy educational videos has cut their annual rate of stair accidents by 50% - from three accidents in 2006 to just two in 2007.

Yeah, $30M for stair accidents and they still can't get all of the tar heroin out of Las Vegas.

humanity has obviously ceased to be 'selected' by natural selection.. as whomever thought that was a good idea most assuredly deserves to be naturally selected. I hope they don't reproduce or we are doomed as a species.

We had video's similar to this (minus the music) in the Navy. Although, OUR 'stairs' were technically called Ladderwells and were waaaaaaaaay more dangerous than the avg set of stairs. They literally were half stair, half ladder. So most of that advise was actually very good. I fell down a couple of them myself, and my tailbone has never forgiven me.

For regular stairs though? Seems a bit much of a video to simply tell people enough information so you can't get sued.

It seems ridiculous to me too, but I can vouch that it is REAL. I got it straight from the source (a mutual friend posted it on YT, so no self-posting here).

A video like this comes about not so much from the chance of being sued as it is losing a safety incentive-either personal or at the corporate level--especially for government contractors. I know I have heard of a similar video about chair training. I can't use a ladder without ladder training, can't drive a cart without cart training and I won't be surprised if we have restrictions on footwear soon, even in office areas because of slips/trips/falls due largely to wearing high heels and sandals.
