Every single one of these celebrities gets tased, moans or screams in pain, and as soon as it's over they laugh, because IT NO LONGER HURTS AND LEAVES NO RESIDUAL PAIN.

Jack Osbourne, Wee Man, Erik Estrada, La Toya Jackson, and Trish Stratus get tasered on CBS's 'Armed and Famous.'

yeah.the pain from 50k volts diminishes almost immediately.
except of course when a pesky thing like DEATH gets in the way.
death is a real bummer.

If 5 security officers can't take down one lousy unarmed student without tasering him half to death then I think the officers are the pussies. No offense.

^ You know, that's a really good point. The taser has become like the TV remote control. Back in the day, you had to get up from the couch to switch channels.

But but but...when I exist, death does not, and when Death comes into existence, I no longer exist. so where does death get in the way? =P jk

btw "Jack Osbourne, Wee Man, Erik Estrada, La Toya Jackson, and Trish Stratus" all in the same room? I rather take the taser and fall unconscious.

Taser is one of the most reliable less than leathal weapon in use today. Sometimes bad things happen with even these weapons...but given the lead alternative which is very deadly, its the way to go in alot of situations.

MG is still beating this issue to death (no pun).

But he still cannot explain how an officer knows when they're dealing with someone who has medical problems, where tazing could instantly kill them.

I've already posted gazillions of links to videos where officers either abused the use of the tazer, or killed someone from using it.

And the above poster is right: If five cops can't take down one person, they're the biggest pussies in the world.

It's not.

But you're effectively justifying the rampant use of tasers by police based on the voluntary cooperation of these celebrities.

Your apparent enthusiasm for tasers, based on the fact that you've made about three posts on that subject today alone, is more than a little disturbing, MGR.

It smacks of sadism.

Especially since you are in law enforcement, if I'm not mistaken.

GO CHEERLEADERS!!

While it is true that tasers don't always kill people, we can always work to improve those stats.

We used to shoot each other with BB guns and usually laugh about it. So hey, SuPER SOUND LOGIC THERE pro-para militarization of our peace officers.

Big straw man.. "given the alternative"

I could point to 100 internet videos right now showing taser use and in every case it was never the situation where you might draw down on a suspect. It is a convenience tool now used for compliance. Yes, they can be safe and useful and save lives in certain situations, but the majority of the use ends up being lazy or "bad" cops using it for sadism or efficiency of results or just for compliance.

Failing to comply to an officer is a sure fire way to be detained and/or shot with a high voltage electric probe...or a gun. As most any lawyer will tell you, you can avoid the crime but you can't avoid the ride. There is a difference between police brutality and police powers of aresting.

Your argument is actually the straw men in this case as it is the lawful responsibility for a person to abide by the lawful requests of an officer. Any diviation from this results in a use of force by the officer to be determinded by his discresion...and when you are putting yourself at someones discression expect to experince pain and/or humiliation.

I don't know what your would rather when people are being hostile or standoffish with the police. Would you rather them have to call 4 other officers with feather dusters and tickle a person into submision? If so, none of us would get any protection because the police officers hands would be so tied because of their inability to reasonably enforce the laws.

I understand the problems you have though, I too also worry about police abusing their powers. That is the subject of a different conversation though. In short, if you act in unlawful defiance of an officer expect a hard body check to the floor at minimum and a cold electric probe in your flesh at a maximum.

Tasers don't kill people, people check out on time...the number of asshole cops is relative to the amount of stupid people who use any tool-There are asshole welders, asshole beauticians, etc etc.......oh...forgot to mention assholes who have opinions as numerous as the assholes available on the planet, huh???

This post has nothing to do with the widespread use of tasers. It has to do with all those videos you see of people screaming bloody murder after being hit with one - acting like it still hurts after the taser is off. (Drama Queen).

My enthusiasm for tasers comes from my hatred of people that disregard the laws around them and act like they're the most important people on the planet. \

Before tasers, cops only had these options:
1) Attemmpt to subdue the criminal, risking life and limb while doing so (Example 1, Example 2, Example 3).
2) Run up to them and beat the shit out of them with a baton, or mace them,.
3) Shoot them.

Very rarely do officer have the chance to jump up to a guy and take him down smoothly and effectively. (Like this)

What the Taser does is open up a fourth option for officers. It allows them to subdue a suspect without putting them in danger. It's not about taser vs. bullets or taser vs. baton, but it just lets them do something they've never been able to do before.

Don't want to be tased? Don't break the fucking law and if you have to deal with the police, be it legit or not, don't resist and do everything the officer says.

Even that left-wing-as-can-be organization, the ACLU says "Cooperate, even if you think you're innocent"

There are cases when a tazer will do nothing to an attacker.

The attack has excessive amounts of clothing on... is inebriated, or is pain dead. Pain dead being something like pain part of the brain doesn't work right.

As I spent time in a private security organization, there were good guys and bad guys. But every one was looking for the chance to use the tools they gave us.

I have never drawn any of my weapons on any one ever, any one who advocates the use of weapons and violence is inherently working against their own mission.

Violence begets violence no matter how righteous it may be.

On a tangent:
Weapons were created to make it easier to kill. Can't do it barehanded then don't do it at all.

On a side note... Trish Status took that tazing very well. I like that, kinky dreams commence.

The X26 has nothing does not work on pain alone; it overrides the central nervous system It doesn't matter what your pain threshold is then.

It is a weapon that equals the playing field among those who are not equal.

I am fine with that. Seeing how they lower their standards to hire.

If the person is on drugs, or has brain damage.. then the Tazer may not work, if it does override the central nervous system. The brain is a nervous center.

Deaths from tasers in last five years - 156
Source - Amnesty International.

"Tasers have been used in the US against pregnant women, unruly schoolchildren and mentally ill people. In some cases, simply walking away from a police officer has led to people getting a 50,000 volt electric shock. Is this a glimpse into the future of UK policing? We want an assurance from the Home Office and police chiefs that tasers will only be issued to trained firearms officers and kept locked in the firearms box. Tasers could kill, so they must be treated as lethal weapons."
Amnesty UK Director Kate Allen

"The vast majority of people who have died after being struck by Tasers have been unarmed men who did not pose a threat of death or serious injury when they were electro-shocked. In many cases, they did not appear to have posed any significant threat at all”.
Amnesty Internation Public Statement, 2007

It's not the tasers - it's the idiots who have been given a uniform and a taser.

^predictable MG response is...

'Well, you're always going to get *some* bad cops mis-using them.'

Exactly. One person dying from a taser is in my opinion too big a risk to have them on the streets. 156 people dying including pregnant women, kids and seniors and it becomes a no brainer. At least, it's a no brainer if you have a shred of humanity in you.

Anyway, anyone I ever knew who became a cop was completely brainwashed by the job and ended up bitter, miserable and seriously fucking twisted by it. I'd tie my kids legs together to stop them joining the cops or the military.

As the mighty Bill Hicks said, the only qualification for joining up should be that you're fucking dumb enough to *want* to join up.

Tthis post is the exact and perfect example of the kind of complete and utter bullshit that you'll end up believing.

Nothing personal MG, but you're full of shit on this one.
