Project Jennifer: Burial At Sea (1974)
tags:In 1974 the USA completed one of the most expensive and secretive operation of the Cold War, Project Jennifer, in an attempt to recover a sunken Soviet submarine. In the process they found the remains of six Russian sailors.
Despite it being a secret operation, the Soviet crewmen were given a proper memorial service and buried at sea with military honors.
This recording was kept secret, and forwarded to Russia in the early nineties. It was declassified somewhere at the end of that decade, and publicly broadcasted for the first time in 2003.
