Planets in a Coke Bottle

Seems that this person Stan Deyo is lecturing in this clip on Anti-Gravity. Regardless of what you think of that, I thought this effect was extremely interesting. It seems pumping audio waves at different frequencies into a coke bottle produces orbiting/moving spheres. Not sure I'd describe them as behaving like planets like he does but a strange and startling effect none the less.

Sorry, neat little effect, but this doesn't belong in Science.

Fair enough rembar, although I would have thought this would be related to physics/fluid dynamics in some way.

It is related, but I'm not exactly thrilled with the explanation given for the mechanisms. No offense.

Yes, I see your point Since I haven't seen this effect before I've been trying to search to see if there has actually been some research done on it. Anyone else have an idea of what's going on here?

I like this post, but I think as well the explanation of this being any sort of anti-gravity effect is null and void. This is simple fluid dynamics with a bit of the effect we see in a non-newtonian substance sitting on a speaker. It is possible the bottle is filled with a syrup like substance to help promote the effect of fluid shaping caused by a harmonic frequency. I can't explain the full effect of the spheres without consulting my dynamics books but I'm guessing it's a frequency/resonance effect going on here. I would be very skeptic of any anti-gravity/planetary effect here.

But "we're feeding it inertia!"

*snort* *snicker* Classic pseudo-science gibberish...

At least its obvious pseudo science. I dont like the less obvious pseudo science.

This isn't psuedo science, read Milo Wolff's website for a good intro to this field of science.

Irishman, thanks for the very interesting link. The web site is also asking for some 3D programming support for which I may be able to help.
