This is ridiculous. Utterly ridiculous. The sheer pathetic-ness of this all scares me. How could almost half the country vote for this quintessential ignoramus?

Alaska needs to be given back to Russia. They reelect Stevens, Young, and give us Palin. I'm done with them.

Well not that I have any love for this woman... but Does no one else wonder if she isn't being thrown under the bus a little... I mean she is extremely ignorant... but not knowing africa was a continent...

I almost wonder if she is going to end up being the GOPs sacrifical lamb here... the 'reason' they lost the white house... Fox's eagerness to report this now... when before it was off the record?...

I don't know... something stinks about all this...

If I were the anti-Drudge, my Drudge alarm would be screaming:

CIVIL WAR IN THE G.O.P

I think the McCain people are pissed at Palin's attempts to distance herself from the loss, and not-so-subtle attempts to lay a groundwork for a 2012 run.

Since they're Republicans, rather than give interviews where they express their dissatisfaction, they leak damaging information about her to the press where it will reverberate through the echo chamber that is our news media.

Then again, the whole "Diva" thing was leaked by people tied to Romney, so maybe it's his fingerprints on the dagger.

Either way, I'm sure they're all a lovely bunch of conservatives who believe that ambition and greed always brings about good things for all people, and that leaders who gain power based on the virtue of having the most untempered ambition or greed make the best distributors of resources.

That'll work out fine, you betcha.

i expect all people who supported her to now immediately accept that they made a big mistake.

So , just because people in the media was told these things "off the record" they keep it to themselves??

Yes, I know what "off the record" means, but I'd say that in cases where the ENTIRE NATIONS FUTURE is essentially about to be handed over to a retard, I feel that journalists ought to break their own rules, under certain conditions. its like saying to the passengers on an airplane , once the plane is in the air, that "off the record, the pilot told me he had never seen a flying machine before"

Ugh I am not defending Palin but the bias on this one is so evident. I bet skepticism will be seen on posts that talked about Obama saying X thing or some other Y thing in his past. But the minute someone spews anything about palin, the skepticism seems gone.

"we are told by some folks (whatever that means) that she did not understand that Africa was a continent...

oh yeah that sentence seems super credible.
who the hell are those "folks" and why should I believe faux news in this instance, where in all others they lie? and why should I believe staff of a campaign that lied for months?

Hey, some folks told me obama was a muslim.
omg really?
yeah I heard it on fox news.
oh wow now I believe you.

>> ^Januari:... but not knowing africa was a continent...

About ten years ago I was in a conversation with my mother in which I had to inform her that Africa was no a country. My mother is a credentialed elementary school teacher in the state of California, she is not stupid, but she is alarmingly ignorant on a number of topics. I was surprised when it happened, but that level of ignorance is not even slightly surprising to me anymore.

yeah i wanted to say that but i thought maybe there is a very good reason for the "off the record" thing... even if there's side effects.

but yeah i agree, participating in a coverup is kinda... unjournalistic, right? right?

There needs to be an exam that people have to pass in order to run for president firstly, but then any aspect of government.

Some really really hard exam they have to take, an exam 99% of people couldn't pass because they're not intelligent enough or not knowledgeable enough.

Seriously. I don't want anyone in any government that doesn't make me (a relatively clever person) feel like an abject fool in a conversation.

The fact that they had so many issues with Palin, but were still willing to push forward and potentially have her in office, says more about their character than anything else.

How is this not an indictment of John "Country First" McCain!?

Is it a greater fault to be ignorant?... or to not be and ignore it in someone who could VERY possibly end up being president... I mean right up to the concession speach he was defending her...

"Straight Talk" indeed...

@BicycleRpariman & MINK: While I agree that it's horrible journalism to participate in a cover-up, part of the reason "off-the-record" information is kept off the record is because these media outlets don't dare jeopardize their sources. If you're doing political reporting, the last thing you want is to be on the "stool pigeon" list when exclusive stories are breaking...you want your contacts to know that you are trustworthy.

Ideally, journalists would want their listeners/viewers/readers to know that they are trustworthy, but I have yet to find a journalistic outlet unbiased enough to risk their sources.

It could also be that some of this "off-the-record" information is accompanied by a legally binding NDA, but that's not cynical enough for my tastes

I think Republicans are furious at Palin, not only for being so clueless and stupid, but for also being arrogant, opportunistic and selfish. She wasn't a team player, and talking up a potential 2012 run mid campaign was probably the last of many, many, many, many, many straws. This smacks of GOP revenge to me. More power to 'em, she is one seriously fucked up excuse for human being.

To me this is fox news typical, blame Palin, leave the primary candidate faultless. This opens the stage for a Palin-free ticket in 2012, since Palin the Problem is gone. Personally I thought they were both clueless idiots.

While i agree with you... that this woman is little more than a cartoon character... I guess what i look at it is... all those things more or less being true... is any of that her fault?... McCain selected her without knowning anything about her to win an election... and even after being fully aware just how incompetent she was, still ran on a platform of 'america first'.

The GOP can be angry all they like... but this is 100% on them and McCain... not the cartoon figure they chose as a running mate for McCain.

I really don't know why you people are hating so much on Palin. She was ASKED to do the job, and basically just for her charm and biology. As there were no charismatic, hispanic, male Republican politicians lying around, she was the only choice.

^ i hope that was sarcasm. i'm sure she wasn't the ONLY choice...

also, i'm a little disgusted by the bias i'm sensing here. i supported obama the whole way (too young to vote! son of a bitch!) but seriously, fox supports republicans, they're biased (which i believe they are), but then if they make an effort to BE "fair and balanced" they're called kiss-asses. someone please explain this to me. not looking for trouble, just trying to see your logic.

(Palin) also denied a report that she didn't know Africa was a continent, not a country, and that she didn't know the members of the North American Free Trade Agreement - the United States, Canada and Mexico. She remembered discussing both Africa and Obama's stance on NAFTA with people preparing her for her debate, she said. Anything reported as a gaffe was taken out of context.

"That's cruel. It's mean-spirited. It's immature. It's unprofessional and those guys are jerks if they came away with it, taking things out of context, and then tried to spread something on national news. It's not fair and it's not right."

Right now there's so many lies and half-truths pouring in from the mainstream liberal-run media about Palin that are equivalent to, "Obama is a Muslim".

Even after the stealth marxist made it into the White House, they've got to attack her.

You've got bigger problems to worry about, libs, like filling the empty suit behind the podium.
