Gak. Just tried to submit, got to get up pretty early in the morning to beat Netrunner.

This was one of the better points made by Obama I thought. McCain looks to be squirming in his suit.

I have to confess, I jumped up off my couch and cheered for this one.

There's no dodging salvos that big. Obama mopped the floor with McCain in this debate.

Did McCain had that smug smile on often during the debate? I listened to the debate on radio and thought it was essentially a draw. But in this video, McCain do not look presidential at all with that smirk.

^Looks like Huffington Post already had an article about McCain's fidgeting.

This debate had some totally bullshit "questions."

Example: "Russia. Two minutes."

Excuse me? I thought the moderator was supposed to ask questions about issues, not name broad topics/FUCKING COUNTRIES. Come on dude, do your fucking job.

Also, McCain dodges way more questions than Obama did.

The rest of the debate was pretty tame. A lot of "that's not true" tho. And a lot of muffled "hehe--hehe" from McCain.

I rather liked that format. It encourages the two candidates to have a conversation with each other, rather than trying to nitpick the candidates a la the late Tim Russert.

I'd rather have these guys argue between each other about policy, than have a moderator who thought his mission was to get one of these guys to hang themselves.

Oh, it's definitely better to have a moderator hold back and not get involved in trying to fuck either candidate over, but a more specific question would make it harder for McCain to go off on random-ass tangents (not that it stopped him at all, but I guess it makes it more obvious when he does).

The other thing is that it would have been good for him to try to enforce a debate-styled atmosphere. I have huge respect for how when McCain interrupted and started talking over Obama, rather than turning it into a shitfest of fighting to speak, Obama let him finish what he was saying. However, had the moderator been doing his job, McCain wouldn't have been allowed to simply run rough-shod right over the top of what Obama was saying.

I like how McCain never actually addressed Obama (did he even glance at him once?) as if they were standing in the same room, next to each other, debating. Now imagine him doing the same thing to foreign leaders with whom he disagrees with. Nightmare. Smarmy asshole.

I watched this on Fox News, and they only split screened it when McCain was talking (and Barack was going "(wtf is this guy talking about!)" with his face). Looks like I missed a lot of creepy smiling and staring off in the distance from McCain...

They both got their shots in thats for sure. McCain likes to repeat and repeat that 'the surge worked' yet if you talk to anyone who has actually spent any time on the ground, what they did was basically shut down connection between factions. Massive walls between two sections of a city. Strong-arm tactics to keep 'the peace.' That certainly isn't success in most people's book.

And in the end Obama got him good there. Originally McCain made some huge misjudgments on the war. Just because the surge 'worked' in the loosest sense of the word, doesn't mean McCain's every decision will meet with such supposed success.

I'd imagine during that part, it was awfully difficult for McCain to keep that smug smirk on his face. I don't know which adviser told him to keep a smug smile on his face during everything but it came off very... very elitist.
