I suppose TrueCrypt & co. would become very popular with such a law.

This will be the cyber-world's version of the drug war.

It will give the authorities an excuse to search you computer for copyrighted material, but while they're in there, they will look at everything and anything they want.

Last I heard there hasn't been any public disclosure of the ACTA document because there is no ACTA document -- That is, the treaty is still being drafted. The U.S. government recently released a six page summary of what may be in the treaty, however.

How will they know the difference between mp3's that you acquired through sharing and MP3's that you acquired by purchasing the CD and riping to your computer for use with your MP3 Player?

Also, Who's computers will they search?

--> What if you aren't a US citizen?
--> What gives them the right to scan peoples computers over the internet, who
are not in the US?
--> What if I am Canadian and Traveling in the US?
--> Does this mean that the airports are now going to stop people at customs and
scan all computers, cameras, MP3 players and other media devices every time
we want to travel?

This opens so many legal doors it's crazy...
