Scientists have long puzzled over the different fates of identical twins: both have the same genes, yet only one may develop a serious disease like cancer or autism. What's going on?

According to this controverisal research the environmental factors that occur two generations prior can affect the disposition of an individual to genetic diseases. Meaning if your grandparents smoke, were exposed to chemicals (DDT!) and other influences can cause epigenomal changes that can carry through to you.
