Behind the scenes look at the 1970 recording of "Getting Married Today", sung by Beth Howland, Steve Elmore and Teri Ralston.

Available on the highly recommended DVD "Company: Original Cast Album".

Beth Howland looks soooo familiar... because she was "Vera" from "Mel's Diner" (sitcom)! :D

I am stunned not only at the enunciation of the lyrics, but how FAST she sings this!

As skinny as that Beth Howland is, I'm surprised that she has the energy to sing this.

I'm not surprised. In my experience, it is the skinny people who are high-strung... and highly caffeinated!

Moving this video to Issykitty's personal queue. It failed to receive enough votes to get sifted up to the front page within 3 days.

Thanks, Issy. This is so great and reminded me of all the times I spun this record in high school, trying to understand what the world was like. There are many great songs on this album, but it also evokes the suburban world of Cheever for me. The writing is really well done. I think the first I heard of it was seeing Richard Chamberlain sing "Barcelona" on PBS when I was a kid. Thanks again.
