Those black & white markers are 50m apart on a straight and it takes him 5-7 seconds for each part, so that's 26-36km/h (16-22mph) if i'm not mistaken.

That's quite a bit slower than you can go on a bicycle. Although he's arguably in a more dangerous position and definitely less maneuverable. I think any single-driver crash would be nasty but not life threatening. His real danger is from other vehicles.
