Haha, if I had ever thrown a temper tantrum like that growing up my parents would have just smiled and walked away. I would have gone back to the game. Like 5 seconds into the mission I would have suddenly felt a sharp sting on my back. When I turn around I would see my mom there with a wooden spoon swinging it at me again. This would continue untill I turned off the computer.

Why?

Sure, they've let this little pain in the arse do this for too long by the sounds, but why are they stupid for wanting him to stop playing a game that he's obviously been playing too much, to the detriment of other things?

I put in some good few hour stints at games when I was younger, sometimes almost a whole day, but only when there was nothing to _do_ otherwise... ie. there were no 'real world' things that had to be done.

Don't get shitty at parents for trying to curb the amount of time their whiney little shit of a kid spends online.

Dunno 'bout youz, but even a moderately intelligent kid could get away with "virtual free-play" from the most draconian parentages: just keep other business in order (grades, hygiene, chores...), and the spare time (which happens to be AFTER midnight) is ALL yours. I vote for a *darwin on this one for the pure bluntness of the players. All I saw was the club being whacked back & forth.

Foolish me, I spent it on David Letterman & Ultima 3. (Heavy Metal would have been a better choice)

DOMESTIC ABUSE !!!!!

If a single hit make in a state of spontanous rage is enough to talk of domestic abuse,my both parent will be in prison right now. Is sad how easyly we yell to domestic abuse when a parent take the great mean to rise his child. Our generation push parent to be weakling raising weakling. One only hit is not abuse, is emergency method.

For once (and only once; don't get your hopes up Bill) I'm going to agree with O'Reilly on this one. You don't argue or try to reason with a kid who's this addicted to a computer game. Walk over, pull the power cord and send him to bed. End of story. As with any addiction, the addict can't look at things objectively anymore; I know this all too well, particularly this specific scenario, as I am a recovered video game addict myself.
