These are german ships, you can see at from the german flag at the very end of the clip.

germany has a relativly large amount of ships near libanon on a peacekeeping mission, maybe this accident occured during a maneuver.

From what I saw, it doesn't look like a square hit. Seems like there were three ships running in parallel, then one of them crossed behind the middle ship. When the crossing ship's captain saw he was in a collision course for the third ship, he straightened out again, but too late to avoid sideswiping it. If they had t-boned it, they would probably both have gone down. Though we don't get to see if they did anyway.

It's nice to know jackasses like you post comments without knowing bothering to figure out that it isn't the US navy. And a frigate costs a helluva a lot more than 30 million dollars btw. Judging from your post I doubt you are old enough to actually have a job and therefore don't pay any taxes. Either that or you are too stupid to hold a job down in which case my tax dollars are providing your dumb ass with food stamps, a welfare check, and free medical care.

Looks like a steering gear failure to me.

Like the steering linkage in your car breaking and losing all control...a very rare occurance but it can happen.
