This reminds me quite a bit of 1984 & Equilibrium, scary crazy shit. America has many many faults, but I'd still rather not live in North Korea. At least here I can say fuck president bush.

if all of those people's thoughts can be controlled it makes you wonder to what extent our way of thinking is being controlled

Kim Il Song's funeral was insane.
It boggles the mind to contemplate the way we aren't forced to live.

I'm usually only a lurker here on Videosift but this video really pulled at me. I consider myself relativly in touch with world events, social and political scenarios, and the like but this documentary was an eye-opener. I suggest every average human-being should watch this documentary.

I for one am hoping against hope that this world can do something about this situation. The middle east suddenly doesn't look so scary.

Equilibrium, Majortomyorke? Wow. Did you know that film was called Librium before it hit theatres? True story. There was a drug already on the market at the time with the same name, so the filmmakers changed the title. That's my 'pop-up-video' moment for everyone's edification.

My music group toured Asia a few years ago and we stayed Seoul S. Korea for a couple of weeks. Korea is a crazy place. The South talk about how crazy and scary Kim Jong Il is. I've heard so many things about Kim Jong Il, but I am sooo baffled that the North Koreans love him so much. If they only knew.

North and South Korea in the news this week:

Saw this when it was first aired, and yeah, it's crazy as hell over there. I like to consider myself deprogrammed even from our American system. I do the things I approve up, not because it's society. I'm lucky though, I live in a place where I can actually do that. Come on, look at how you can't lay down to take a picture of certain people because it's degrading to them and so forth. With that kind of psychological terror constantly on you, of course you're going to feel that way. They're told everyday how evil American's are and how selfish we are which may be true, but at least we're given that opportunity. What they have there is just insane brainwashing. It's worse than giving your daughter a barbie doll, much much worse. So yeah, for anyone who thinks our country or their own country has some problems, be thankful we only have the ones we have.

"Our country's unity is stronger than nuclear weapons, therefore, we are not afraid."

Therefore, we are husks.

For the sake of a future, we really need to keep Il in his place, or kill the bastard-it is unfortunate that so many lives be caught in the middle-so many are hopelessly lost daily to the fucker-Too bad, Iran's got one too-and Sudan, and Burma, and Zimbabwe, and Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Saudi Arabia, E. Guinea.....assholes never die completely out-

They really like to use extremes in their text: "... cult possibly more extreme than any other IN HISTORY." or "The most militarized border in THE WORLD". I don't like this exxagerated way.

Not saying that their leader isn't anything but terrible, what he's put his people through is beyond words, but keep in mind to them he is a god. Is it really that strange to praise your deity after a successful surgery?

Thank god we don't have that in the west, eh.

Great sift btw!

Il's a thug who controls every aspect of N. Korean life.

Liberals are more subtle: they want to control every aspect of your life but in the name of Mother Earth and the Children. Have a rice day.

pragmatik - you think that saying it's the most militarized border in the world is an exaggeration? Guess you've never been there.

That was a great sift. I spent 2 years in Korea while serving in the military and this video was an eye opener even for me.
