Wow. Spending too much time in some solo activity to the detriment of a relationship is one thing, but I love the pseudo-intellectual attempt at 'understanding' videogame players, with the obvious undertone being that any amount of gameplay is not a legitimate form of entertainment. Let's flip it around for a second to reveal the absurdity.

Guy: "Hi Mike, my girlfriend wants to go out to see a movie every night. A movie - EVERY NIGHT! How do I get her to stop?" (look of exasperation)

Host: "Well, it's clear she's trying to roleplay. It's the entire purpose of going to the movies, you know. What was the last movie you saw together? Was it sci-fi?"

Guy: "No."

Host: "She doesn't want to be a space princess, then. What was the genre?"

Girl: "But--"

Guy: "Western."

Girl: "Well, yeah, I mean, sometimes I enjoy a western if it's done right, just like any movie, bu--"

"Ah. Classic cowgirl. That's what she wants, really. Instead of going to the movies, Jane, don't you think you could just slip into some assless leather chaps and spend more time with your boyfriend?"

My god, that was absolutely disgusting. Such ignorance... I really feel like puking.

And actually, I think Morgan did this just for the fun of it. I'm sure she knows better than to actually analyze and categorize someone by what kind of games they play... I mean seriously... I think she did all this just to laugh at herself later.

Tyra makes it sound like playing videogames are self-destructive, and then leads in to Morgan who makes all videogame playing sound like a positive, normal thing, and then Tyra closes with "So you're gonna cut back, right?"

What he needs to do is realize that going on a daytime talk show isn't the way to fix his relationship, he just needs to buy a Wii and get his girlfriend hooked on Wii Sports!
