"Black history is American history". Perfectly put. Couldn't hope to improve on that line.
"O' come on... wait... I'm a Jew.... NO! I don't want a Jewish history month!"
HA!
This world has enough problems with racism without searching for it around every corner. Something that a lot of activists fail to realise. Well played Mr. Freeman.
Yes, that's right, i spoke like G-man.
Freeman is more free than the liberal doctrine trying to stuff him in a poor-me victicrat cubbyhole.
But, outside of music even though there has been a black history month for a long ass time now kids just don't understand Dr. King! Listen to his damn speeches, oh young and flighty ones - he didn't just speak about his dreams he spoke about "RADICAL ECONOMIC RECONSTRUCTION"! As history repeats itself it is evident to remember to pay attention to your local black community; they know what is going on!
Though I admire Mr. Freeman viewpoint. The reason for "Black History" month is not to give some "special" days to African Americans. It is designed so the mass of unread Americans learn that a huge portion of American History is based around Africans. In fact the very foundation of the country was built with slavery and the cheap labor slaves provided.
Despite its purpose, it just reinforces the idea that blacks and whites are more separate and different than they really are. If there's a problem with how history is taught in schools, address that problem directly.
When you institutionalize assistance for a specific group of people, you reinforce the notion that they need institutionalized help.
I've always said this for years, as long as we have political correctness - ie. the need to enforce necessary AND UNNECESSARY changes to how we communicate - racism will never be gone. You draw attention to racism and i would say encourage racism by kicking up a fuss when someone demands that we use "chalkboard" for "blackboard".

I knew these words were going to be forced into some kind of conservative political ideological mold.
Morgan Freeman isn't suggesting we ignore racism. After all, MLK, Malcolm X and Rosa Parks' 'fuss kicking' brought equal rights under the law to everyone. Freeeman is merely saying that black history should be included as a year-round part of American history, and not relegated to the shortest month of the year.
Also, I don't get people who have such a huge problem with treating others with respect. Is the social pressure to say Asian instead of oriental really that oppressive to you?
Please to understand: slavery was/is a worldwide phenomenon and at one time or another EVERY race has been enslaved.
Freeman is more free than the liberal doctrine trying to stuff him in a poor-me victicrat cubbyhole.
What made American slavery unique was how it was coupled with racism. Historically, slavery has not had a racial bias. Whether you want to acknowledge it or not, that legacy of slavery lives on today in the form of extreme poverty handed down from generation to generation, and I find your dismissal of these people as 'poor-me victicrats' to be disgusting.
Have you ever considered breaking out the ideological restraints that bind you? I would have less of a problem with your opinions if I had the feeling that you'd come up with them on your own. Look at all the cliches and slogans in your tiny incoherent argument: "other countries had slaves too" "liberal doctrine" "poor me" "victicrat"
Take away the slogans and you are left with nothing.
