Ok, this one surprised me with its originality, totally unexpected. Perfect for teensy bathrooms, I like it!!!

These are common in Japan, for the spacesaving it's great. Don't sign on for the toilet/sink/shower combo though.

I highly doubt that saves water

1) you have to flush the toilet in order to use the water in the sink, so if there's no dirty business in the toilet bowl, you end up wasting whatever water is in the bowl of the toilet.
2) the water continues to pour well after you've finished using the sink

And do you end up filling up the toilet tank with the dirty water from the sink? That can't be good for the ceramic (porcelain?).

Space saver? Yes. Water saver? No.

As someone else said, this is nothing new at all. Japan has had toilet sinks such as this for ages.

@south: I don't think this is meant to replace the existing bathroom sink, I think it's an addition -- specifically for washing your hands after you use the terlet. If, every time, it saves a litre or even half a litre of water (litre = quart, for my Yankees) that would otherwise come from the faucet, that adds up.

I've said it before: we need an *ecologyandenergy channel.
