Mishap on the Slide - Worst Engineering Ever

How to foil inertia...!
Sagemindsays...

Wouldn't it make more sense to put the gate up at the top or at the stairs so no one could slide down it in the first place!?

>> ^StealthNuck:
To be fair to the engineers, the slide is closed. The steel gate is supposed to disuade idiots from sliding down when there is no supervision present.
eia indeed.

That depends on your objective. A fence at the top stops them from going down that particular slide. A broken leg will likely prevent them from trying these shenanigans on any slide, at any park.

The fact that there's a camera person there at the bottom shows that they were fully aware the gate was closed. So it's not "Too late I realize that this may have been a bad idea," and more, "LET'S GET THIS BAD IDEA ON THE ROAD!"

Yeah, I dunno if I can upvote this, as it is indeed nothing to do with 'bad engineering', and certainly not 'worst engineering ever'.

Just 'Stupid kids use closed slide, discover fences hurt when hit at high speed'

Crunchysays...

What you have here is contrary to the title!

You see a fence on the top would be easily climbed over and would increase danger but a fence on the bottom serves as
1. Fine warning
2. Negative Acceleration
3. Nudering for retarded kids that ignore the fine warnings.

Edit: If im not mistaking i actually heard some spanish, which means this is in mexico, which means thats a waterpark slide

I agree that it's not faulty engineering. Also, it has kids in it, but they're not the focus of the video. And I think the terrible tag is for poorly-filmed or -written projects.

Feel free to disagree with me and change the tags back.

gwiz665says...

The right way to secure against this is to remove the middle part of the slide, just half a meter, then they'll surely not slide down... not all the way, at least.

Fence might be safer on the TOP.

Yeah, it might, but to be honest the modern society is way too lenient towards morons as it is, we need to have ways to weed out even some of the cases.
