From YouTube: "They put a sample Surface machine in our building a couple weeks ago. So I swung by after work one day and poked at it a bit."

The best part starts around 1:30. I would kill to have something like this in my hotel the next time I'm on vacation somewhere new. Sure, you can always use MapQuest, but if it's there and you need some quick info you just can't beat it on style and substance.

Nice to see it in action in the real world.

It'll be nice when there aren't as many 'waiting...' portions and little judders etc. But still, for an interface, this would be fantastic to have on your coffee table at home and be able to have friends come over with their phone/camera/music player/ whatever and just share things with you on it... great stuff

The interface seems to be pretty clunky. Intuitive yes, but clunky.

I wonder how much of that technology is "borrowed"...

While it does have the 'nifty' feel, it comes off more as a 'proof of concept' than a finished product in this video. The stuttering and loading was already mentioned. Another facet is often times you can tell what the user wanted to do, and more often than not his first instinct on how was wrong. Granted, he was interfacing with it most like it was a desktop computer, but then again, that's what it is most closely related to.
