From ye olde Wikipedia: BLEVE, pronounced /ˈblɛvi/ ("blevvy"), is an acronym for "boiling liquid expanding vapour explosion". This is a type of explosion that can occur when a vessel containing a pressurized liquid is ruptured. Such explosions can be extremely hazardous.
