Martin Luther King's message compared to Ron Pauls

seltarsays...

My mom got mad at me for liking a republican, until I showed her one video..
The only problem is that Ron Paul is, here in Norway at least, known as youtube's presidential candidate.. Nobody has really heard of him outside internet, and they think that he will lose.
I still have my fingers crossed. But in this election, all that really matters to me is change. Doesn't matter to me if it is Obama, or Paul. They're the ones I can see changing USA for the better, and keep their integrity along the way.

Obama has two very important similarities to Ron Paul. He's not a weasel, and he doesn't inspire divisiveness. Not that their platforms don't divide people, that's unavoidable. But there just isn't the same kind of acrimony and animosity and arrogance that seems to swirl around (both for and against) folks like Hillary, Kucinich, Huckabee, Romney or Guiliani. McCain and Edwards also seem to inspire less of that, but with somewhat higher weasel factors.

I also appreciate that while they don't fully agree on foreign policy, both Paul and Obama advocate a drastic drop in our arrogance and aggressiveness in that area. That is deeply refreshing and a priority to me. The platform similarity seems to end about there though, and their appeal to me divides into separate categories. Obama appeals to me in his passion to bring people and fight for a change to the bitter partisanship that has characterized US politics throughout the Clinton and Bush years. Paul appeals to me for his passion to protect civil liberties and bring some fiscal sanity to our government.

My dream election would be Obama vs Paul (i might actually vote for Paul in that case). My nightmare is that it could be Hillary vs Guiliani.

Either way, i'm still pretty sick of the two choices (Dems and Reps) we've been stuck with for decades and will probably continue voting for the strongest third party candidate (Bloomberg?) regardless of their positions. The two party system is simply far too resistant to real change to be good. In the long term, more than anything, we need some viable third (or fourth or fifth) parties. (wishful thinking, but it is my hope)

Man, MLK's words always get me emotional.. the fact that someone could kill a man like him is a really sad reflection of the world.. but I am very glad to see people today, like Dr. Ron Paul, fighting to keep the dream alive.
