Bittman extols the virtues of real food over fake food, and in this talk he describes exactly what's wrong with the way we eat now: too much meat, too few plants; too much fast food, too little home cooking. He explains why our diet is harmful not only to our own health, but why it's putting the entire planet at risk.

Bittman's take home message, "less meat, less junk, more plants" is very similar to fellow NYT writer Michael Pollan's famous headline "Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants."

wow, I'm not finished watching this yet but I am absolutely loving this. I love the politics of food - this needs to be heard.

Had this video recommended to me by a close friend who's just a tad more liberal than I am - suffice to say that I found it very, very frustrating to watch, mostly because he spends far more time talking about OMG THE PROBLEM and How We Got Here and OMG ITS ALL WRONG rather than proposing solutions and explaining why they will work for you and I personally. That's fine if the audience already knows these things, but if they don't... well, suffice to say that I certainly would not recommend this video for convincing your friends to take up different dietary habits!
