There was. They tested a few things, and tried to figure out which ingredient in the coke or mentos caused the reaction. Conclusion it was a combination of everything.

Holy crap I want to punch that laughing guy in the throat (my new favourite punching zone btw)... that seems like such a forced laugh... perhaps done to make the video seem more 'zany' and wacky for the induhweb.
