NO AUDIO. This guy is seriously lucky. While patiently waiting to cross the tracks he gets clobbered by a semi-trailer that crosses and gets hit. Just watch it.
EDIT: Thanks for the updated video, Joe.

I seriously hate you guys... How is this not snuff? It is graphic accident and only a technicality the guy didn't die.

How is a freeway pile up illegal to post but you don't see anything but a cars collide from 100 yards away. But this is ok to post???!

Also, according to LiveLeak on both videos, this one and the alt. angle video http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=cc2_1236115211 the guy did lose his life.

Ok, more research might say he was only injured. The original Turkish news source is here

Also, can you swap the embed for this one because it has both angles.

My goodness, today's trains sure are quiet!

Strange to say, but I think the truck saved his life.
He was standing pretty much directly on the train tracks.

If the truck hadn't been there to 'cushion the blow' and nudge (albeit violently) him aside, I think he might have been instantly killed.

Not to mention how amazing it is that after the initial blow which knocked him down, the trailer just slid clear over him.

Horrendous looking accident, indeed.
But not quite as gruesome (snuff) as it first looks, once analyzed.

You can see from the top view that most certainly did the truck not save him. He would have been close but clear if it had only been the train. About as close as someone might stand at a underground tube station.

I had the same thoughts as jasonyc, and watching it again I still do. I think he was standing dangerously close to the tracks -- his toes were pretty much on the rail. He only looked to the right and stepped back when the truck came into his peripheral vision. I'm confused as to why he was standing there so deliberately. I'm guessing the train was completely silent because it appears (again I'm confused) that this was the rear of a train going in reverse -- no locomotive to make noise.

Anyway, if the truck caused him to notice the train and step back, then the truck probably did save his life. If he kept standing where he was and the train kept coming he'd have been hit hard and not just knocked over.

i can only think his survival must have something to do with the ridiculously rapid pace at which all humans seem to move in mersin, turkey. i'd heard rumours about their frantic nature but until today had never seen it with my own eyes.

While the truck may have pushed him out of the way of the train, I'm fairly certain he would not have been near the tracks if the truck hadn't been there, essentially shielding his view (and masking any sound) of the oncoming train.

Where was the conductor's horn?

I wonder what recourse & action is being done in response to this accident.

I don't believe he stepped back because the truck entered his vision. I think what happened is when the conductor slammed on the brakes that sound made him turn.

I posted something not as brutal as this and everyone went apeshit calling it snuff, and it was promptly discarded. I, however, think videos like this are newsworthy, and I'm for them staying, but there does seem to be an inconsistency with what is and what is not snuff.

My take: the guy works there (see the hard hat), and is quite used to waiting for trains to pass before he crosses the tracks (unlike the guy who crossed before him), and he knows exactly where to stand to be safe. The whistle was blowing, and he was waiting patiently, the way he usually does, being safe.

But then, the semi crossed in front of the train, and he realized it was going to get smacked. He may also have realized it had just made him unsafe.

He knew he was about to witness a train wreck, and perhaps he was trying to work out what exactly was about to happen and what he should do to save himself.

In other words, not * EIA.

I just watched the CNN story on this. The guy (he works there, hence the hardhat) was directing the truck across the tracks. CNN reports neither of them knew the train was coming until it was too late.

He said he has a "New Respect for Life" and he wants to get married.

OK. I revoke my suggested revoking of the * eia tag. This guy directed a truck to drive in front of a train. Wow. I wonder what he's going to contribute to the gene pool over here.

I told ya'll that he was not standing in a safe position and he was not waiting for the train to pass. And part of the reason he didn't see the train was that it was going in reverse and thus was relatively silent.

Don't those 2 ideas conflict?

What's the big deal with a video like this? Its purpose is clearly not to showcase death but to show an actual event, a train accident. Why is no attention paid to context? This video is not about death at all...

Only on s mere technicality. If the title didn't say "and lives" you would never know it. Heck, I'm the only one to have researched it and I'm only 50% sure he didn't die.

Jeez, slow down. Can we not assume the person who posted this knew the guy survived by the hint 'lives!' in the title?

Man gets hit by Train and Semi SIMULTANEOUSLY

Erm...no. The train hits the truck. He gets hit by the truck. He doesn't get hit by both.

No, we can't. Relying on videosift titles as evidence is like relying on a paper bag to protect you from machine gun fire.

The guy survived, he got away with a few scratches and wears a patch on his ear:
