Too bad you can't build your own Mac clone.. one of the beauties of PC Clones is that you can easily purchase top performance parts from a wide variety of sources and build an awesome system yourself. Something you can't do with a mac.. God I hate proprietary crap. Overpriced, typically underperformed and they make you talk to a troubleshooter for an hour even if you already know for sure what the problem is and need a replacement part.

These guys will build you an Intel based PC that fully supports Mac OSX. All you really need to install OSX on you PC is a newer Intel processor based machine.

I wonder how the Linux user profile compares.

My GF has a mac, and the thing is amazing, I'm a Linux geek, not a mac-fanboy, but I can appreciate the quality of what Apple puts out. I have done user support for all types of systems, and I have never seen any other system that shipped as well integrated as a mac, it's seriously night and day.

This data could just as easily be interpreted as Windows users lack the capacity to tell crap from quality. If being discerning is a defect, what's so great about following the heard?

Linux/BSD users, also feel superior, anybody making a non-default OS choice is going to feel that it is the better choice, or they would not bother to make it.

This is all true, I know several Mac users, and they are all complete jackasses!
Seriously though, it doesn't make much sense to compare a tiny group of computers to the rest. It would be more accurate to say "Most Mac users do this" than "Mac users are more likely to do this than PC users." PC users includes the majority of computer users on the planet.
Well, whatever, surveys are usually garbage.

This is a linux guy.

Macs have about 2 % of the home computer market, while 98 % is Windows PCs. Linux, Unix, BSD and all that doesn't even register.
