A fighter jet that will be so far ahead of the curve that it will have no competition to face in the skies. I personally think this will be completely useless in the future small scale conflicts and anti-terrorism activities.

Very apt observation - except as with Indy/F1 cars, the high-tech bleeding-edge eventually trickles down to regular consumer use.

So as wasteful and inefficient as this may be - especially on the weaponization side - there may be benefits no one has yet even thought of...

I don't see what benifits this tech could bring consumers. We've had VTOL for years and nothing has developed from that. I mean when supersonic is too expensive to be viable then what would we need this for?
