I'd like to just play this on my 'hi-fi' at home for a friend to listen to, be totally into it and ask them if they recognise it, maybe try to name the band.

The song really doesn't sound like it's from an awkwardly social middle-aged man trying to recapture his edge after a generation of being compromised from his now-divorced wife who compromised him of his dreams only to leave for someone else with more edge and have them leave her, not able to get back to Gormley who's fully set on his weekend-music career showcasing his once/every 4-months songs with music videos created by an equally awkward-but-in-different-ways musical-success-rejected media groupie overwhelmed with guilt for having bullied poor Gormley by taunting his musical style and introvertedness eventually causing his established need to seek out a life partner who gave him a modicum of attention secluding them to a promised life of affection and support only to have that crushing around them after a faithful night out exposed to a whirlwind of emotions overcome by life-time denied excitement at a hard-rock show for her college friend's stagette party.
