What I honestly don't understand is why the studio thought tech geeks who loved the idea and name so much before the movie was made would ever actually leave to go watch it...

You know they'd just telesync it, rip it, capture it and publish it online to enjoy for free.

At least the bootlegger got to hear the line. Someone in the audience had to shout the line when I saw the movie. There were maybe 15 people in the theater.

I only paid $6 during the day. Here it's $8 at night. Before May the price was $7.50.

No AMC did not. That title is news to me. There are many films that never make it here. In October there is a film festival New Orleans. I'm looking forward to that.

No, I love the vid - but to boil it down to "the reason everyone wants to see it" is silly.
With everyone's individual tastes being catered to these days (read "The Long Tail"), people are clamoring for communal experiences, and this was one. A big ol' goofy one.
