Larry King's Worst Interview Question

youdiejoesays...

Just watched "Bee Movie" with my son this morning. And the sad thing is Larry King is in the movie!

Quick review of "Bee Movie" - first 35 min. pretty good, then...boom...snooze. Kids started to squirm after about 40 minutes. In my house we call it "wait for video"

If the audience had been laughing, we would get the impression that he's joking. However, Larry King's audience aren't chosen to come in and laugh.

If this had been on, say, the Daily Show, the exact same conversation could take place and it would come out good-natured.

Come on, he was joking, and it was a pretty bad question, what was he suppose to answer, "Yes, I canceled them, I was the king." ? Seinfeld is a legendary show, and he deserves the credit for going out on top. Despite my wish I could just see one more episode of that greatness, the moment Seinfeld ended really marks a surprisingly honorable moment in an otherwise honor-free milking-to-the-bitter-end industry.

wow there's a sudden increase in wide eyed naive kneejerk literalists on the Sift.

How can anyone think this was anything but a laugh? these people are ENTERTAINERS go look it up.

The possible joke just comes out all wrong on Larry King Live. As lertad said, it would have been more appropriate for the Daily Show. And that segment would have ended with Jon saying, "Settle! Settle."

They were just joking around, sheesh. Jerry wasn't getting all high-and-mighty or anything.

Give Jerry some credit...he has tons of money, yet he still goes out and performs stand-up. Stand-up in places where they would tear you apart after a minute if you're not funny. He can ride on his fame maybe...maybe...the first 5 minutes of a routine. But after that if he isn't funny he's dead. It's pure, raw, naked, vulnerability to put yourself out there like that and even more so with people thinking he's Mr. Hot-Shot. Yet he still does it...and he doesn't have to at all.

You should change the title to "Jerry Seinfeld being a Douche."

I don't think Seinfeld realizes that it wasn't HIM that made the show, and the worst part of every episode was his stand up clips. Larry should have told him.

I dunno, maybe Jerry was joking, but it sure looked like being a douche and then trying to rescue it by putting it over the top to me. Not funny at all. Mind you, I'm not his biggest fan, so maybe I am biased. If it had been Denis Leary, I would have probably found it funny. OTOH, Denis Leary is funny, and very funny when he is "outraged". But it probably would have all got beeped out...

It was a genuine reaction from Seinfeld, not staged or scripted, and it reveals plenty, and it's consistent with other interviews. The dude has a stick up.

Seinfeld is a severely overrated, self-aggrandizing ego-tripper who dumbed down American humor. His shtick breeds apathy and smugness. It was the same old meaningless, very mildly amusing belly-button gazing for years.

He collects Porsches. Dozens of them. What does that tell you? You know the one about the difference between Porsches and porcupines? Seinfeld is the perfect example.

"Bee Movie" is $150 million worth of pure syrupy dreck. I'm sick of the douche (and of his many media sycophants). What I dislike about Seinfeld is his complete preoccupation with himself. He's no hero, he's a self-important dick.
