This reminds me of the mythbusters "surfing with dynamite" experiment.
They said it was busted, but that looked pretty surfable...couldn't say the same for survivability.

Hah! I remember that episode, as well. Looks like it isn't busted after all. You just need to use a bigger bomb and be farther away from the blast.

it was busted.
they were testing if the myth held up with the reported stick of dynamite. to make a large wave, a stick of dynamite is not enough.

That was WAY better than I expected! When I saw the first explosion I was disappointed for a split second and then it got really good. I love explosions!
