I expect to see more of the same at other political events. I don't expect any apologies from the Bush administration, only an explanation: "Nine One One."

who says anyone provoked the police. The trend now is to silently declared the protest unlawful and start moving in.

The First Amendment is seriously lacking these days. Don't cops realize right to assemble or petition the govt for redress. If someone is un-peaceful, you have more than enough cops to arrest that person.

1. No one cares about Los Angeles.
2. Don't provoke the police.
3. Read #1 again.

3 guys act stupid so they open fire on the hundreds of people that were marching peacefully? Brilliant.. The thing that pisses me off the most is how so many people are representing this whole thing as ALL of the protesters hurling rocks at the police officers and them reacting. Bias is out of control..

I posted a followup to this one from another source. It more raw than the news footage and shows some more of what happened.

Imagoamin: The same thing has happened here in Portland and up north in Seattle. Peaceful protests that are sabotaged by idiots who have no interest in the rally other than to throw shit at, and incite the police. As far as the police over-reacting... it pisses me off to watch it, but I was neither there nor behind the lense, so I'll just keep my views on the police to myself. However, in the follow-up vid bl968 linked above, I see the same shitheads with bandanas over their faces that cause all the problems at protests up north here. You could argue that they are just innocent, peaceful protesters, fearful of recognition and future arrest, but damn if they don't remind me of the boneheads up here. As far as bias, I'd disagree. I think the video shows very clearly it was only a few people throwing rocks, even interviewing one witness who said as much.

I'm just curious to see what will happen on Cinco de Mayo.

A nerve? Heavens, no. Probies and trolls don't get under my skin. I was simply concerned for your health. I must say, though, so far your future does not look bright. Would you like to sign a DNR? I can send in a nurse.

porky,

Looking at your posts, you are the troll. Obviously your life consists of trolling boards and creating conflit. My post did touch a nerve. You could do everyone a favor and "*ignore" everyone. Haha, is the asterisk a little pixie dust?

Please "*ignore" me.

Oh, Probie... your ilk come and go here every day. Just words on a screen. Get over yourself.

dit!... dit!... dit!... beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep.... I'm calling it. 10:53

I apologize to bl968 and others for this getting off topic. I ignored the "Do Not Feed the Trolls" sign.

Glad to see unedited news for a change. God, people wonder why cops are so despised. What really shocked me was the violence and intimidation towards the news media. They know their bad intentions and don't want the cameras there to see their bloodthirst in action. Watch at 2:12 when a cop reaches and hits a guy who had to slow down momentarily to STEP OVER A SOMEONE ON THE GROUND.
Some police are heroes, but those in this video are criminals and should be fired and put on trial.

In an effort to get back on topic... On top of everything else, there are dozens of reasons why it is a bad idea to piss off the media. Does anyone know if they were in their designated "media areas"? LAPD agreed in their 2001 lawsuit settlement not to assault journalists in designated media areas. Doesn't mean they should assault the ones that stray out of there... Doesn't mean they should fire into crowds that aren't violently resisting either.

When I was speaking of bias, I wasn't aiming at this video itself. Surprisingly, this video is rather middle of the road. I was speaking mainly of what I'm hearing from talk radio and how they're painting this as an issue of ALL the protesters throwing rocks and provoking the police.

I went looking for a counterpoint to the view from the protester's side (I feel like you should see both sides before you decide who was in the right) and found this, via Michelle Malkin:

http://www.immigrationwatchdog.com/?p=3666

The above link contains some more videos. I suggest skipping the comments, as they're pretty Neanderthal-ish, with at least a couple of people actually cheering the violence. There are also links to a couple of half-hour-long police radio intercepts from during the protest.

The Immigration Watch cites reports in the intercepts stating that people were throwing rocks and bottles, but the first instance is from people in an apartment (not part of the protest at large, if you ask me) and the second time it seems to be dealt with pretty quickly, with the person responsible apprehended. I actually made it through both MP3s and I still can't tell you what started the final confronation.

Edited for spelling...and clarity...

Gee, illegal immigrants wanting to become instant citizens (poof!) and LA cops. What else could we throw into the fray?

This wasn't the illegal's they would likely have been too afraid of being there. This was US citizens.

Yea, Malkin's not my cup of tea either, but I really couldn't find anyone else pro-LAPD on this one, and it was important to me that I see more angles than this video provides.
