Everything about this looks amazing, but, why am I so disappointed at the ending realization that the character is a boy? During the whole trailer I thought it was a young girl. For some reason I was let down that I had more in common with the character than less.

All the controversy over race and gender in entertainment these last few years has many of us thinking about it more often than we probably used to. Which is certainly not a bad thing mind you, but it still leaves me with the question of how do we go about that without resorting to some sort of quota system.
Even if we reached a day where say 50% of all heroes in our entertainments were women there will always still be those people out there who will indignantly demand to know why character X in entertainment product Y was cast as a man and not a woman.

Surprised it's a boy too, but that's a "whatever" moment to me. I'm more bothered at how the models are rendered with a multitude of racist/typical Hollywood "Asian-looking" caricature that's far from reality. Jaundice skin tone? Check. No eye-lid? Check. But it's already an improvement from the pre-90s! Look! No bucktooth!

There's got to be better technology/creativity to render a model that look Asian without looking like a bad caricature.
