You can actually see him walk it off a little. Once the blood is pumping like that, you can't just stop. Like others mentioned, he showed considerable restraint as you pretty much want to keep going until the opposition isn't moving anymore...its how your brain works.

The kid defended himself well, but this video is much more an example of exactly how NOT to handle bullies. Every last person in the camera working crowd that gathered around basically doing nothing but hope a fight started are the problem. The way to stop bullies is for the crowd to gather, but instead of hoping for a fight, joining the fight against the bully. Even simply standing beside the victim instead of forming an audience is normally enough to stop things without the need for any violence at all. Instead these kids just stood around and hoped for a good show, shame on them.
A kid once bullied me (verbally). He showed up at a friend's birthday party, harassed me and tried to get physical. I bashed his face in. Blood all over the floor. Never bugged me again.
Another kid bullied me a few years later. I knocked him to the ground. Pinned him. Told him to cut the crap, or next time I'd bash his face in. Never bugged me again either.
Both times I would have done a LOT more damage to them if others were not around. I only restrained myself to keep the moral upper hand. If I beat them senseless to a pulp, I wouldn't have been any better than the bully to begin with.
I was a relatively small kid, but with brains and tactics, these bullies will go down. Forget the fair fight. The point is to KO them as fast as possible before they KO you.

Yeah, I mean, I wouldn't ask for a fight, but if it came my way I would just totally bring it with mad skillz. Like an upper cut as he was approaching on the grass, and then a round house to totally finish him off clean. And then I'd do some stretching, because I'm pretty much a professional fighter. One time a bully tried to pick on me, and I just totally smashed him up - he never picked on anyone ever again ever. And I've got a girlfriend who's totally hot. Oh yeah, and she was the bully's girlfriend, but after I smashed him up, she wanted to be my girlfriend.

Exactly. Being in a fight is a blur. The details of fights are better interpreted by onlookers. I've been on the ground being beaten and I've been on top of someone beating them, and I can honestly say it feels like an instant; then, suddenly, you're being pulled off someone or someone is being pulled off of you. It is as if you were intoxicated.
The restraint lies in the fact that he did not go into a frenzy. I know I would have because I've been there -- no one knows how they'll act until it happens. Physical fights can be like moments of insanity.
A BJJ black belt once told me it's a good strategy to provoke the other guy to charge against you, because it makes them very predictable.
The kid in the video used the open space to his advantage to back up and avoid the incoming swings, which was awesome. He suggested using the opportunity to do a takedown (BJJ's most usual standing attack anyway), which is very unexpected to most people.
Could have done without the six or seven dozen pre-teen screechy girl voices, but the ending was very well choreographed. Decent acting, good directing, but badly produced. I'd give it 3.8 out of 5 stars.
