Keith Olbermann Special Comment May 14th, 2008

kronosposeidonsays...

OMFG in heaven. Dumbshit Dubya sayeth, and I quote:

"The biggest issue we face is -- it's bigger than Iraq -- it's this idealogical struggle against cold-blooded killers who will kill people in order to achieve their political objectives."

Tell me that asinine, mega-hypocritical quote won't be in at least 95% of the newspapers outside the US by tomorrow morning.

That son of a bitch just isn't happy with alienating the whole world. He must want everyone to hate us outright.

Is there a *blatanthypocrisy channel yet? Someone needs to get to work on that.

Oh, and I gave up pepperoni pizza with extra cheese to show solidarity with the troops. Now it's just pepperoni and the regular amount of cheese. I salute you, my American warriors. But don't bother me to attend even one funeral of the fallen. I've already made my sacrifice.

Olbermann's rhetorical flourishes don't always work for me, but believe me when I say that I am EXTREMELY hot and bothered with our Commander In Chief right now. I've been out of the service for almost 20 years now, but I still feel for my brothers in arms. Gunny and arsenault185, two of our fellow sifters, could have been numbers on a fucking wall in the Pentagon right now, but fate had different plans in mind for them, thankfully.

Gunny and arsenault185: I hope you don't mind me bringing your names up in one of my diatribes. I do it only to drive home to everyone here that when a senseless war is launched, REAL people die. This might be the closest connection some people here have with loss of a comrade, so I hope you understand that my intentions are well-placed.

Arsenault185says...

KP, I thank you for your asking me if I did have a problem. I don't. It helps drive home a point. I will admit that I was caught up in the movement for war when everything first happened, but I assure you that the war was not my motivation for my entering the service. I had plans to enter before it all. I will tell you though, that I am not ashamed we went into war when it first started. That was when we had a clear objective: Get Osama and the Taliban. Now its all about Iraq. The move into Iraq should have never happened. The sad fact is, it seems like America has forgotten about the war in Afganistan. I think we have SOME sort of right to be there, looking for the people who actually attacked us. But why Iraq? Why STILL Iraq? we need to get the fuck out. Another sad tidbit of truth. SOLDIERS don't even realize how fucked up the war in Iraq really is, most of the time. A lot of us just go with it because our brothers in arms are over there getting killed and injured, so we need to stay to kick "hajis" ass. We forget that this is al illegal war. We (America and her troops) forget that the war has already been won (according to a press statement, can't remember from who right now), we forget that there are no WMDs, we forget that we already got Hussein and tons of his party leaders. Its all one big mess, and I sincerely hope that we pull out. And Soon. Speak on, KP, speak on.

wow. that was one hell of a fury delivered in that segment! (and rightly so!) I hope this message reaches all who can hear it and may it have similar effect!

"See, I done proved it, written in the margins with crayon" That one had me going :-D well done Keith Olbermann!

NordlichReitersays...

This guy has bigbrassballs.

Epic win! One million internets, and One Million get for Olbermann.

I think that it was a mistake to take Hussein out. Correct me if I am wrong, but didnt he have a grudge agaist Saudi? Now we have Saudis subverting the effort in Iraq, O great. X "By destroying one enemy another is created" X, when will they ever learn.

X Im sure that is quoted from some one, I am just not sure who.

MarineGunrocksays...

Oh, but don't you all understand? Taking golf away from a president is like taking oxygen from regular people. It's such a massive sacrifice, that I think the dead are glad they at least didn't have to give up golf.

Fuck you. How did any of your advisers think that this was a good idea, and not just a slap in the face to all those who are mourning because of you? And I thought I was a cold-hearted calloused bastard.

>> ^Fedquip:
Keith is awesome. He's probably thinking his rants will soon be ending so he's getting them in while he can.

Why? It's not like the Republicans will go away, even if they're slaughtered in November.

He's also aimed a few at Democrats, too (like Geraldine Ferraro, Hillary Clinton, and the whole Democratic caucus).

Just like Stewart and Colbert won't cease to be funny, simply because there isn't a murderous, corrupt moron in the White House.

Less theraputic, perhaps, but I won't mind not needing the therapy in the first place.

spoco2says...

Holy CRAP he was angry.

And so he should be.

So should every right minded person in the US be.

So should the majority of us in the rest of the world be.

That was like a nice, big cathartic scream for us all, right there.

The more I see of this guy, the more I like him, rant on KO, Rant ON...

thinker247says...

I usually cringe at ad hominem attacks, but these are particularly necessary for a monster like Bush. He thinks he's saving the world by destroying it. He has no foreign policy experience, and his sycophants only fuel his misguided fire. I will be having a party on January 20th of next year.

blahpooksays...

I'm glad that this opened with clips of McCain with Bush. Now that McCain is doing the Texas two-step to distance himself from Bush while at the same time getting his supporters' money, it's important to remember exactly how far-gone Bush and his supporters have always been, and continue to stubbornly insist on being, from the people they claim to be fighting for and supporting.

deathcowsays...

I cant watch this shit any more. America has been highjacked OK? Sorry, it's well out of my control. I am sorry that take my taxes to kill your citizens and control your countries natural resources. It's up to Europe and Asia to lead the world in the next century, America is a hostage.

NetRunnersays...

^ You still have a voice and a vote. As long as you still use both to push back against this, there's still hope for America.

This is a rallying cry, not an obituary.

Memoraresays...

"This idealogical struggle you speak of Mr. Bush is taking place -within- this country. It is a struggle between Americans who cherish freedom, ours and everybody elses, and Americans like you sir to whom freedom is just a brand name..."
