Just how much does marijuana impair your driving?

choggiesays...

...and FYI for all you Can't work through griefers' Against Drunk Drivers, for your information, Alcohol, is NOT the #1 killer on the roads....It is the cocktails, as many as the freekin' colors in a Giant boxa' Crayolas, of Alcohol plus PHARMACEUTICAL DRUGS.....that is to blame....but, the last legal drug being the obvious scapegoat,....here we are, uninformed, and manipulated by the media, again, .....Pharmceutical Industry, Military Industrial, then Petrochemicals-Biggest Money......so why don't we have more PSA's about poor Debby, who got killed on the way to her Senior Prom, by a whack-job bitch on anti-depressants, and a high-ball????? Pill makers, probly' have the biggest lobby next to oilmen, and homo's....Civil Disobedience-really is, the only way

have fun next election, deciding the fate of your children, by voting on bullshit issues like...domestic terror, abortion, civil rights, homosexual marriage, and all that other bullshit we would, feeeeeel better with laws for,.........cause no-one knows how to pack a bong correctly.....

I can't wait to see the Carnival of Fools, next presidential pep-rally....maybe we can get a famous corpse and re-animate......that guy from Egypt, gay pharoah, whats his name....

If you're REALLY high, then yes, it impairs your driving performance. But like the show suggests, 1 spliff is rather okay. You do tend to focus more because your mind seem to be at ease and free of distraction. You become very mellow, though your judgement skills are still there.

But again, that's only after a minor dose. I do have an experience where I got to be very very high and you do become impaired both physically and mentally. My roomate at the time gave me some really high dose of THC. And after taking it, my heart was beating so quick I thought I was going to die. I was twitching and yelling and all that stuff. Now I think of it, I think the stuff was mixed with something else, because even with large amount of THC I don't think it's suppose to raise your heartbeat like that.

Farhad2000says...

legacy0100 it was probably laced with cocaine, which would give you the increased heart rate you describe. The good thing about marijuana, if you do get really high. You'll be too lazy to get up and drive anywhere anyway.

....you'd get no-where with that test, and that guy already had a large amount of THC in hid blood, even before dem fatty....the best way to have conducted it was the way they did it...yardies' levels were closer then, to what it is constantly....take a non-smoker, give him the joint, yer test results are again, skewed, in the opposite direction..... no consistant results, because its psychoactive effects are varried from subject to subject like LSD, which is why they make up stories about what it does to folks....

\\Bottom line:-Legalizing it will take the $$$ out of the hands of a lucrative, government-controlled, business-We have working models of legalized herb in the Netherlads, and all we here on the news here is how its legal there, followed up by a sex shop pan shot, in the background, the same associations made with drugs and crime, that they spun in the post-prohibition 1930's in America.....

....all this typin's killed my buzz.....

God, I hate Quentin Wilson (the presenter)...he's almost as smarmy and smug as Tiff Needel - if that's humanly possible!

I'd say that driving when stoned actually makes you more careful than when sober...anyone who's tried it knows what I mean (of course, as in the video and commented above: there's always limits!)

gorgonheapsays...

A little wound up there choggie? You'll have to explain how making marijuana legal would take money out of the governments hands. Seeems to me keeping it illegal would cost more money in prevention and investigation. If the government was looking to make money with it they would legalize it and then tax it to death.
I wonder how that guy would do with traffic and reaction times. there wasn't really any timed or precisely measured results. Just a questionaire and observation. I've seen enough episodes of cops to know that cannabis DOES effect your driving noticably.

benjeesays...

Hmm, well GorgonHeap - you have the highly impartial Cops for evidence...how can I ever beat that source of neutral information with my own experience?</SARCASM>

Amazing comment DeputyDog...

I drive high all the time.... easy as pie. A lot easier than talking on a cell... or eating fast food. But why take away freedom for nothing? Road safety is important, but not at the expense of freedom. What people should really do is rally to get rid of the no-fault insurance system so people can sue for car accidents in tort law. Than we will all think twice about the real expense of getting into accidents, right where it counts, in our wallets. Cause we all know thats where people feel it the most. This criminal bullshit for making mistakes on the road is ridiculous...especially when no one is hurt but the driver.
