This is awsome, why isn't it on the front page yet? try adding "religion" to the tags.... that seems to do the trick on videosift.

Wow, he actually comes accross very eloquent and knowlegable at the end, very tough to debate with.

Always though Joe Rogan was an idiot, but He does make good points. Good sift.

Gold Star invocations (nsfw) cannot be executed by grspec because grspec is not a Gold Star member - sorry.

he does make some very valid points that i agree with, but he had a bit of a "i have a camera and buddies here and you don't, so i'm gonna make you look like an idiot" attitude with him

Ok. The simplicity, and beauty, of this Rogan comment is that a simpleton (Joe Rogan) is able to point out the fallacies of the 'supposed intellectuals' of faith.

I don't think the camera buddies are helping him out in any way. The simple fact that this educated and well funded faither being trumped by a meathead presupposes any budy factor that COULD be implied.

"I'm not going to tell you we actually found the arch, but I'll tell you what we found;" What a strong openning statement!

'We didn't find the Arch, but I'll now proceed to justify how I've wasted my life, and, in turn, waste your time.'

The Wikipedia article on Ron Wyatt can be found here.

A quick googling pops up this page.

And I'm in agreeance with Giger...if Rogan can do it...

BOTH INCORRECT.
fossils of sea life are found at the tops of mountains because mountains grow higher from tectonic plate movements. it's not possible for the world's oceans to get higher than how much water there actually is on the planet, so that hypothesis is already out the window!

Ah but you see, the need for "evidence" and "hypotheses" is completely trumped by the "magic" that "God" uses. The beauty of religion is that you don't /need/ proof. In fact, believing in God gives you permission to reject proof or even the very need for proof.

Arguing with a believer is like trying to blow out a light bulb.

not strictly true, many moderates can be shown that what they thought was 'plausible' is just a big fat hairy lie. it just takes a lot of effort.
fundamentalists on the other hand...

This was great. Joe points out the stupidity of believing these stories as being FACT... I GUARANTEE you they were never meant to be taken as fact initially... they are STORIES which have morals (however odd they may be) and try to get their point across in a memorable way.

To hear the story, and then take that to be an ACTUAL occurance... my GOD(tee hee... I don't believe in him, so he isn't mine) you have to be thick.

Plus Joe points out that the translation as we have of the bible can't really be trusted anyway... and then (which he didn't go into) on top of that, on top of just bad translations, we also have PURPOSEFUL alteration and insertions into the bible by the Romans and others.

ANYONE who takes ANYTHING written in that darn book as being the word of God, even if they believe in him, are just plain nuts.

Up-vote purely for Joe educating himself on the topics he does comedy on. Far too often we have people prodding religion without educating themselves, on both sides of the fence.
