Now imagine that in a live performance (if you haven't seen 'em). Really nothing like it out there. As far as contemperary music goes, it is my opinion that this band is 'Music's/rock's last hope'.
EDIT: Also, it appears he stepped on the chord and pulled it out of the guitar on his way back to the stage. Nice improv there =p, even though he seemed a bit upset after the performance as in a "damn, I messed it up" type of way.
Btw, wazant, I am not a Pink.
When I saw them play, one of the strings broke so he just improved, played a whole song with one string missing
Jack White is pretty impressive, though. I would love to see him do some collaborations with people who can actually play their instruments.
Here's a quote from Bamdrew in another White Stripes sift that I feel should be read by anyone who comes into a WS sift and complains about Meg's drumming:
"i'm tired of people raggin on her sucking at drumming. she had no musical training before she started banging the beat out for jack; its not like she's pretending to be a virtuoso, she's backing up the lead with simple, primal, 1-2 beats.
i think it would be distracting if there were some fucking danny carrey going nuts on all their bluesy, roots-rock songs. they've been around for a while now, they have a grammy award, its time to understand she's playing the drums exactly how jack wants them played." -Bamdrew
Couldn't have said it better myself.
@Hex, That's awesome. I would've loved to have seen that. Jack White once said that his favorite shows are when things go wrong and he's forced to improv. He feels that some of this generation of concert-goers are somewhat 'spoiled' in the sense that they come to a show, giving nothing to the energy/atmosphere and expect to be entertained. He says that's why they never have a specific set-list, plays with instruments that he's played with for years, and never has anything specific in mind as to how the show will go. Any disasterous event (IE- a broken string) would be the saving grace, and leave the audience with something that they'd remember.
I didn't like them when they first broke onto the scene a few years ago, but their sincerity in their performances has won me over. Very cool people, though not the only hope out there for rock right now. . . . Yes the bulk of the good stuff on the radio usually gets pushed aside for what the teenagers are spamming their phone lines for. Luckily we now have mobile media devices. Invade your local scene people.
You've got that right. All 6 strings broken would be classified as a benevolent miracle.

But it's not really about that, is it?
I've read your comments on many other videos, and I get it. I'm pretty impressed, actually, that you've got BillO's character down so well at times.
Not that I'm getting anywhere responding to your messages (Because I think you're playing a 'character', and if you aren't, then we'll probably never see eye-to-eye regardless), my reference was simply to the fact that it's fun and something to remember when something out of the ordinary happens that wasn't 'scheduled' or planned out. And yes, it's fun to see a performer's string break, and they continue with the song regardless, pull it off, and make it sound as good, if not better. My point was that the White Stripes say they don't worry about such occurances, instead they welcome it.
@Karaidl,
Some of their song lyrics are incredibly simple, Let's Build a Home is definitely one of those. So is "Let's Shake Hands" and "Astro" (many of which could very well be double-meaninged =p). But they've also got some very well-written lyrics as well. Especially, but not exclusively, on their new album. If interested, check out Effect and Cause, A Martyr for my Love for you, and 300 MPH (Just a few off the new album). Good stuff
@Myn,
Yeah, Canada loved them for touring every Province on such a significant tour (Their 10th anniversary AND the tour for their new record). They were raved about in the papers, and I went to the show the night before the Edmonton one you mentioned, when they were in Calgary. Great stuff, and yeah, the youth centre show was rather admirable.
Too bad I live around Houston, I wish I lived up in Austin, there's a much more lively music scene up there than down here. Makes seeing concerts harder. /damn Texas
@billyoreilyy
she is not best drummer in music today. average at best.
Cartor Beauford is the best drummer today.

No, you are wrong. And I certainly wasn't being sarcastic in my original post.
good clip
Yes, Carter's amazing. But nobody touches Danny Carey on drums. NOBODY.
