In all seriousness though, this is just another case of what I call the Harry Potter syndrome. People with common lived just bursting at the seams to feel special. They want to wake up one day and find out that they are unlike everyone else.

The kid likes airplanes and they nurtured that. As for any "evidence" of reincarnation, I think it is much more likely that he picked these things up from queues given to him by other sources (tv. his parents. friends. etc).

Why would they lie?

They are on tv now. They are special. They have woken up one day to find out that they get to go to Hogwarts and that their lives are no longer unremarkable.

they never let the boy talk. Who's to say any of what the parents said is true if they speak on his behalf through the whole interview.

This was just an advertisement for those books ABC and the author is trying to sell, otherwise they never would have mentioned the books in the first place. It's a hoax passed off as news. It's done every single day in every news medium in the world.
