I honestly had no problem with this...I could determine the 2-dimensional plane from a view point moving in 3-dimensions with ease.

Some shapes and things really f*ck with my head but my brain survived this guy.

A lot of these illusions work because we're viewing them in 2 dimensions rather than in 3 dimensions as you would if you were in there in person. When viewing a 2 dimensional image such as any video our brain uses visual cues to give the impression of depth. If it didn't everything from TV to photographs would look mighty strange. Things like this just take advantage of those visual cues to make it seem like the cube is an actually 3 dimensional object.

Hmm, that didn't cause my brain to fail, it fails for totally unrelated reasons. My brain that is.

I'm with rottenseed. I'm always aghast at the mind-bending workings of cool optical illusions, but this one is greatly lacking any potency. My brain did not fail and was interpreting it as a flat printed picture on the mat the entire time. Optical illusion *fail.

Agreed. I think it would have worked better if we couldn't see the edge of the mat.

Too bad those two HORRIBLY FAILED LINES on the right kept bugging the fuck out of me, and completely ruined the illusion. Whoever made this thing sucks at perspective.

edit - actually, looking at it a second time, that whole right side is completely fucking retarded. This would work better if the lines didn't go in RANDOM MOTHERFUCKING DIRECTIONS. What actually blows my mind is how someone could get this so horribly wrong. >_>
