If Americans Knew What Israel Is Doing!

vairetubesays...

Don't accept that solutions are impossible because religion is involved.

"Might = Right"

I hope some honesty about this mess will occur in my lifetime.

I look at it mathematically, for now... and since religion is on both sides of this equation... cancel it out?

Hurting prisoners is bad, if not wrong... and both sides do it.

So cancel that out too.

What else can we cancel?

The equation will boil down to one side having something the other does not... and what is that likely to be?

What "=" RIGHT? or what will make both sides cancel each other out, save nuclear war?

Legitimacy? MIGHT? Let's solve for X.

You know what equals right?

Nothing, right and wrong is an illusion just like control.

What is better for our evolution? What is right... Leaving well enough alone and not fighting over shit.

So goddamn petty. The whole fucking thing, ITS FUCKING PETTY.

You want a war, go to mars and have a war, last time I checked there wasn't any thing there to fuck up.

Crakesays...

It may be petty, but wishing the parties were more noble is not a viable solution. Work with what we have.
I'm usually on Israel's side, but I've come to increasingly suspect that both Israel and America have a large political segment that are simply fascist and ignorant - the fundie religious wing of the political right in both countries.

How it ever became so powerful despite being so stupid, is a mystery to me.

Has this segment contributed anything to the two countries? Hasn't it just been detrimental to progress every step of the way? What has weakened religions' grip on power in the past?

what will prove to be the undoing of man?

That's easy. Greed, prejudice, hate, revenge, and cowardice.

How to stop? That's the conundrum isn't it.

How stupid can it possibly get. Oh I quiver at the thought of the EIA channel when such large scale asshatery begins.

Ask questions. Get people to think, get people to find their own answers, their own questions. Forcing knowledge on people, even when it is to their benefit, is never the right answer.

The real question is: how do you get people with the word of god on their side to question that word when it offers eternal paradise?

I don't think this video has anything to do with religion.

This could be any two groups that have been fighting over land issues for a prolonged amount of time.

This video is about torture and the reasoning behind it, coupled with the complicity of a third-party government that refuses to back out of the deal because they're afraid of losing a presence in the Middle East.

BicycleRepairMansays...

I don't think this video has anything to do with religion.

I wont say religion is the cause of all the trouble in that conflict, but it does play a central part, both parties thinks they've got divine rights to the same land, cities and temples. Meanwhile fundamentalist Christians disturbingly close to the white house are watching and hoping for armageddon and thereby the return of their imaginary friend. Its a bizarre world we live in.

joedirtsays...

It isn't "religion" that explains US involvement. It clearly comes down to two things.. CIA and intelligence efforts require US give Israel whatever they need. They probably exceed US intel by an order of magnitude.

Also US Congress spends most of their money on defense. Israel is just an extension of that system of defense contractors. Israel means more weapons sales and a testing ground for weapons development.

Now the media keeps the waste of money and outragous abuses of Israel away from Americans knowledge and keep up this bullsh-t claims about "best ally" etc.

I mean how many times does your "best friend" have to get drunk and in a brawl that you have to get his back on...

photos in this video are extremely misleading and out of context.
they are talking about nazis WHILE showing Israeli soldiers asking an arab(?) to raise his shirt.
as you know this is not to cause terror or to put down the population. this is a response to a very real threat.

What if some guys in black suits came to your house and flipped you out of your bed and started searching your crevices?

"Its ok sir, we are searching your crevices in response to a very real threat."

The tone here comes off as patronizing but thats not my intent, seriously question yourself. What would you do if you had to stop at every street corner to show some one your papers? No ill meaning intended to mxxcon.

ihre papiere bitte.

you took my comment perfectly out of context.
watch that video once again and give me specific time stamps where it shows anybody being flipped out of a bed.
i'm talking about pictures that are shown at 1 minute 17 seconds into the video and a few seconds after that.
what they are doing has absolutely nothing to do with Nuremberg trials. and only somebody who's spreading propaganda would equate those 2 specific photos with war crime trials at Nuremberg.

NordlichReitersays...

Nothing was taken out of context. You comment was too open for me to infer that you where arguing for the distance between Israelis and Nazis.

I find that in the war on terror those fighting the good fight become more like their nemesis every day.

There are two sides to the coin, the Canaanites bomb Israel towns, the Israelis drop bombs.

While this continues there can be no peace.

The Americans interviewed are a limp collection: diplomats, professor, etc. It would be interesting to hear what a wider, more representative group of Americans might say.

The Richard Curtiss quote is revealing - "Anyone who spends any amount of time in the Middle East begins to see the other side of it." Sounds like Mr Curtiss is suffering from a case of diplomatic Stockholm Syndrome.
