That's pretty neat, so they must be using standard incandescent type bulbs, as flouroscent tubes have that flicker warm-up time. So this probably wouldn't be usable on most buildings, though if it could - god imagine the advertising potential, giant flashing billboards!

Soo is it common for buildings to have the remote switchable lights in every room? Dont they usually try and save bucks on big projects? Individually addressable lights seems like a high end item.

The live crowd makes me feel that this is real.. but I was watching one particular "room" or light-- and sometimes it lit up on the left side, and sometimes it lit up on the right side.. this would obviously not happen in real life.. could this be fake? it certainly could be faked easily enough, but like I said- that crowd noise makes it believable...

There's in building in my home town that displays colored (static) light displays at Xmas. The rooms aren't actually lit. It's just a colored light next to the individual window. So, you could do this one any building. You just need a light next to the window that has good response time. This may also explain while the "right left" problem above. There may be several lights on each window for this display.
