FAKE! How could you find two full beer cans at college?
At any gas station
I'm most impressed that someone owns 5 metronomes.
I'm even more impressed that said owner of 5 metronomes has enough knowledge of the outside world to post this on youtube.
I'll give you a hint:
youtube != outside world
On another note, apparently they don't keep *perfect* time....
Holy fuck!
On another note, apparently they don't keep perfect time....
Actually, they do, but it's an average of all their timings. The way out of sync ones get moved by the closely sync'd ones in such a way that the pendulums don't complete their arcs until they are in sync. If you notice, the ones with very large arcs get smaller, and the smaller arcs get slightly larger.
I'm not good at science. Can someone explain please?
As the metronomes rock back and forth on the suspended platform, the transfer of their energy causes the board to shake in the opposite direction of the wand. This causes a rhythmic motion of the board, which rocks all the metronomes in the same rhythm. This in turn causes the metronomes wands to start rocking in the opposite motion of the board, and eventually, they will all start to fall in line, and will synchronize.

I think the key is to have an ODD number of metronomes. This way, you always have a side with more pendulums (pennduli??)pulling the board, i.e. 3 against 2, feeding the cycles. With 4 pendulums, the probability of having a 2 against 2 pull is high, and would induce chaos in the system every now and then. Does that make any sense?
