You use bendy stuff when you want something to be strong like buildings or bridges, but in this case it must do specific things with air to produce downforce so it isn't supposed to bend. It is meant to be light and rigid. Side force snaps carbon fiber with ease.

I love it! Definite * comedy, for sure. He just kind of hesitates for a second while realizing how dumb that must have looked and then, with one of the fastest types of wheeled vehicles on the planet, limps off out of frame. Beautiful.

To elaborate on what FDisk said, it isn't meant to be used as a bumber in the traditional sense. It is meant to use the wind to keep the front of the car down so these things don't do wheelies or flip.
