No I believe it is because they can't get depth information out of a 2D picture. Our brains can however deduce a 3D scene from the image by analyzing geometry and using our higher brain areas and stuff

at least some dogs can see 2d images, or at least know that something is there, projected onto a surface. my dog would bark at her reflection, and a friend's dog would chase the spot of light reflected off the a watch face.

I've heard that cats and dogs can't see 2 D stuff right too, but I don't believe it for a second. Iplay one of those videos for cats for my cat, and he goes nuts trying to get at the birds in the TV. Including sneaking up on them from behind the TV and such.

Harley looks very smart.
