A plow? How about Henry Blair that invented the mechanical seed planter and corn harvester over 150 years ago.
A black man may or may not have invented the wheel (were you there?) but he has improved it.
Fredrick Jones invented the 2-cycle engine and the air conditioner.
Joseph Gammel invented things for the combustible engine too.
