Also I'm a bit concerned about the family connections. I read of another person who was falsely imprisoned and he said the American interrogators threatened to go after his family members if he did not tell them what they wanted. So when this interviewee offering to help family members, was that to keep them safe from the bad cop who was interviewing them before?

No, I don't believe so. This interview was done for Foreign Policy magazine. However Jack Cloonan is in the Oscar winning movie Taxi To The Dark Side, which I have yet to see unfortunately.

He features the 'tough nut to crack' at the end but I don't see any proof that that is how it happens or that he really did it in that way. I really wish it were that easy.
