Things that you should know.

Ettercap makes it easy for a person to Man in The middle.

and Wireshark makes it even easier.

Just because you are using an encrypted page does not mean that the messages coming from your computer are encrypted.

You can legally download ettercap, and wireshark to run a man in the middle on your home computers, and see how the attack works.

DO NOT ATTEMPT ON ANY ONE ELSE'S COMPUTER EXCEPT YOUR OWN.

Things that can be done to lessen the chance of this attack.

Use a switched LAN router, do not use a wireless system. Use a series of switched routers before the modem. Thirdly, look use an application to look for promiscuous network services, if there are any suspicious network services identify them and quarantine.
