How does the saying go? It's not how big your pencil is, it's how you write your name.

I know I can't correct the original maker of this video and I'm not trying to. But that's not a Murcelago. It's a Gallardo and being beaten by a CRX aside, It's still one fo the coolest cars ever made. It's a lambo redesigned by German engineers. As they put it on top gear: "It's all the fun of an Italian Lamborghini but the air-conditiioning works."

That is clearly a Murciélago. 100% sure.

I would upvote just for the Murciélago, but somehow i don't trust this video. Either it is staged or the Lambo is not going full throttle. The CRX just hasn't the space to fit in a 6- or 8cyl, so it has to be a 4cyl. The Murciélago sports a 580-640hp 12cyl (depending on specific model). So even IF this guy tuned his CRX to more than 500bhp (NOS anyone?) i'm pretty sure he had to spent more than the guy who bought the Lamborghini and if that would be the case i'm also pretty sure his car would be in a WAY better condition.

As i see things except for professionaly tuned cars built from scratch (such as the 1000bhp Nissan Skyline GT-R that can be found on youtube) that cost hundred thousands of dollars it's just not possible that a small, frontwheeled 4cyl performs better than a Murciélago.

And btw:

The Murciélago is not a car they redesigned. Germany's Audi bought Lamborghini some years ago, back when they nearly went bancrupt. The Murciélago being the first car built with German technology and know-how (it's equipped with several Audi parts, even on the inside). Both the 12cyl Murciélago and it's "little" 10cyl brother Gallardo have since then been a huge success and Lamborghini at the moment is more successfull than they have ever been.

It's definitely a 4-cylinder engine in the Honda, and its not unheard of those to go over 500bhp with extensive internal rework and a big turbo. NOS could factor into the equation, too. Keep in mind the CRX is a hell of a lot lighter than the Lambo, so the engine has less weight to pull. From a dead stop the Lambo probably would've won, due to RWD's natural advantage launching. On the highway, though, stranger things have happened.

A CRX could be tuned up to that level for well under 20k. I'd still rather have the Lambo, as long as someone else is footing the bill, but you've got to appreciate bang for buck.

Weight is a good point, the difference between both is more than 600kg.. I'd really love to know more detail about this video.

Btw don't forget: New Lamborghinis (since Audi) all have 4WD, no RWD.

I'd forgotten about the AWD. Really, that just skews the advantage more towards the Honda in highway racing vs. drag racing. In drag racing, AWD cars are splitting their power through all four wheels, so its easier to get a solid launch, since all that power is going through four tires instead of two, and you don't just sit there spinning tires. Once underway, though, AWD has a higher parasitic drag than FWD or RWD. If that FWD Honda and that AWD Lambo both had 500bhp engines, the Honda would actually be putting more power down to the ground. FWD has a drivetrain loss of around 15%, and AWD has a loss of around 25%, so the Lambo could be outgunned, the the Honda STILL has lighter weight. So in short, while unlikely, it could happen.

it's a b18 swapped... probably turbo'd and maybe spraying. if you notice, they say the honda really gets going at around 100 mph... which would make sense for a vtec turbo. and no, whoever said that would take hundreds of thousands to make a crx perform like that doesn't know jack about honda tuning. i personally never messed with them, but consider the $1000-2000 cost of car, $1000 cost of good cond. b18c, $1000 of building a tranny, $3000-4000 for a big turbo kit and MAYBE $500-1000 for a nitrous kit... including labor of installs and tuning you're still looking at under $15k total, incl. cost of vehicle. on top of that what's probably gutted and under 2000 pounds the winner's obvious. now let's put them on a track and see which one holds up before the motor blows or can manage to power out of a turn without worrying about being in the powerband because the turbo doesn't spool fast enough.
