Home Depot Worker wants to be a voice for Christians!
"You can't have country without God"
They don't go into detail as to whether he was trying to pass his religion on to customers or employees - A detail which could be pivotal as to whether he was fired.

If his employer has a policy against people wearing buttons of any kind, as this news story reports, and he refused to take off the button, then he deserved to be fired for refusing to follow company policy.

I don't doubt that this is related to the religious nature of the button, but the company is protected by their general no-button policy.

Can they do it, of course, will it be wise in the long run to fire a person for a button that shows faith in a very faith based community...only time will tell.

I like this, he's not whining about losing his job, or condemning Home Depot. It's nice to see someone accepting the consequences of standing fast to their convictions.

Maybe he can get a job at Chotchke's, and wear all the god flair he wants.

Would it be OK for me to wear a button that says "God does not exist" ?

Good luck with god getting you a job since you technically "TOK YER OWN JEB"

Sounds like Home Depot has policy in place regarding the issue. They do it, to protect their butts from lawsuits of any kind. While this man is free to display his 1st Amendment, it is generally understood in professional circles, that religion is one of two subjects you do not bring up (the other being politics).

But, time will tell if there is any effect on this issue.

Funny, we talk about that all the time. But then, we're Canadian so meh.

Nice how one of the two reasons was the *military support. Fishy how the button became an issue only after he brought in the Bible though.

You'd think that happy restaurant owner would take him on though.

Being in the construction field, I hear a lot of complaints about certain workers and how they preach all day during work while they're "working". They feel like it's their duty to spend their entire day jabber-jawin about Jesus. It can actually be a distraction to both those that are willing and unwilling to listen. It's a simple productivity problem and in some cases it's a safety concern.

If hes holding a sign promoting god how do you even ask whether he was trying to promote his religion?

The saddest part is how he says he feels most strongly about THIS than anything else in his life.

What a sad waste of a life...
