At least Nixon demonstrated some level of intelligence in his dealings with the American government and its people.

The implication being, that Bush isn't? While I'd agree with claims that Bush appears extraordinarily dense, when it comes to his dealings with other branches of the government and the American people, he has gotten cleanly away with every underhanded stunt he's pulled...

I'm not sure how successfully getting away with anything you like can be taken as showing a lack of intelligence. If anything, it demonstrates a lack of intelligence (and certainly a lack of integrity) on the part of Congress, who are supposed to provide oversight, but don't seem to be interested in the slightest in doing their jobs.

^ I agree. Bush has been incredibly effective in enacting his policies, and the Democrats have been pretty weak in opposing it either from lack of intelligence, or spine.

However, Bush's policies show that he has no actual intelligence. It's pure ideology; every time, regardless of the facts or the advice of subject matter experts, we get raw (neo-) conservative philosophy.

I'm not alone in saying that it seems like Bush & co. seemed to have been trying to re-run the Nixon years, and keep Vietnam Iraq going indefinitely, having learned from the mistakes of Nixon.

Bush is just the simpleton front-man, Cheney is running the show for the corporate interests.
